| "this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.." Thank you to everyone who helped make Mom's Hawaiian ceremony possible! Virginia, my step-father Aaron, and I flew to the Hawaiian island of Kauai and released her ashes to the Pacific ocean on Jan. 19, 2008. Many friends and family who could not be there joined us by expressing warm wishes, sending her love, or providing gifts and support. We released mom's ashes on the same site that Virginia and I were married almost exactly one year previously. Because of her illness, mom was unable to be there for our marriage ceremony but now she has shared in the experience. Below is a prayer written by mom's lifelong friend Nino Seritti which we read aloud as we released her ashes. To those just visiting this page: in lieu of flowers we collected donations to fund the trip to Hawaii. Those wishing to join in the effort can still donate by clicking the button below. Gently and lovingly Lord, the essence of all that we experience in our human world, and the genesis of all that we are, both here and in the afterlife, we use this beautiful location to place into the eternal flow our dearest Carol. This act allows us to show the power of her life. We, each of us here present in person, as well as those of us present in thoughts and prayers, release to your eternal existence our beloved Carol. We have faith in the realization that the essence of her life and the strength of her thoughts lives on...in the words she spoke...in the dreams she had...and in the people she loved. Great Spirit of Life, we pass her to the peace that we believe is her right to claim. We claim it for her now. Knowing in complete confidence, that her essence exists forever, and for all times, in the hearts of all she touched. You, The Almighty, who knew of Carol's being before a grain of sand was formed, before time was marked, before creation was planned, take our precious Carol to Your Light to share in the greatest of all of life's mysteries. Fuel her journey with our love. Mark her for Your special care - Now and for all time. AMEN. We love you, Mama. |
